KINGSTON, Jamaica – Coming from well behind the front runners, Gambler (Dane Dawkins) got up with his last stride to nip Let Him Fly i(Anthony Thomas) in the Caymanas Saturday eighth.
Gambler attained his second successive victory in a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of four) event going seven furlongs.
Trained by Michael Marlowe, Gambler was held of the early pace set at different times by Helicopter (Youville Pinnock) and Let Him Fly.
In a stern battle in the straight, Let Him Fly, digging in, got the better of Helicopter and seemed set to reach the winning post in front only for Dawkins and Gambler to pop on the scene to nab Let Him Fly.
Helicopter was third. This was the second winner on the day for Dawkins.
