KINGSTON, Jamaica – In another fine display of jockeyship, Maya under the guidance of Anthony Thomas came from far behind to win the Caymanas Monday 10th, which was the nightcap.
That tenth race was a three-year-old maiden event going 7 ½ furlongs.
Maya, conditioned by Gregory Forsyth was no where around for most of the race as Hijo Primero (Paul Francis) and Lady Magnum (Obrien White) headed the field of 12 runners. Hilly’s Vision (Tevin Foster) was the closest pursuer as Maya could not go with the leaders.
Rounding the final turn for home, Hilly’s Vision took over but by this time Thomas was picking off horses to enter the run for the final two furlongs in fifth place.
Now in acceleration mode, Thomas was able to find space first bringing Maya through horses and then taking up the rails.
Powering home Maya soon got by Hilly Vision to win easily in the end by 3 ¼ lengths.
Hilly’s Vision was second with Sky Zone (Jordan Barrett) occupying the third slot.
This was the third winner on the day for Thomas and the second for Forsyth.
