KINGSTON, Jamaica – This sprint fest saw trainer Patrick “Wacky” Lynch and the Dick Cardenas combining with Executive Chief to score a close win in the Caymanas Saturday seventh.
Tearing down the tote at odds of 4-5, Cardenas had to watch from behind as Awesome Boy (Anthony Thomas) blazed a quick trail with a fast two-furlong split of 22.4. K D Rocket (Dane Dawkins) was also lurking close by.
In the final furlong, Executive Chief got pumping under a surge from Cardenas and the four-year-old bay colt responded with gusto to win by half-a-length over Awesome Choice and K D Rocket.
This was Cardenas’ second win in a row.
