KINGSTON, Jamaica – Co-champion and current leading rider joined an elite club of jockeys at Caymanas Park to rider 100 winners in a single season when he won the Jamaica Day sixth on the Jason DaCosta trained Adore Brilliance. The Jamaica Day sixth was a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of three) call at 6 ½ furlongs.
As expected, it was the speedy Kholbear (Matthew Bennett), who shot to the lead when Mr Starter sent the field of 13 horses on their way. Kholbear was followed by Crafty and Ready (Omar Walker), with Adore Brilliance on the outside.
Kholbear kept-up his effort by increasing the lead as Kay Boy (Oshane Nugent) started to get closer.
Turning for home it was still Kholbear as Thomas got going on Adore Brilliance on the outside and Kay Boy after turning wide was switched to the inside. Kay Boy running strongly got the lead inside the final half-a-furlong and looked the likely winner but Thomas had the final say as Adore Brilliance soared to nick Kay Boy in the glass by a nose. Third was Kholbear.
Adore Brilliance was the second winner on the day for DaCosta.
