KINGSTON, Jamaica – As was expected Phenom made light work of his five rivals to easily get home in the first of 10 races on the mid-week card at Caymanas Park just a short while ago.
Phenom won this his second race over the five straight in a Restricted Allowance three-year-old non-winners of two.
The winning time for the 1-2 favourite trained by Steven Todd and ridden by apprentice Christopher Mamdeen was 1:00.1 and the winning margins were 1 ½ x 2 ½ lengths. Enedina was second with Bold Smile third.
After the race Todd admitted that he was unsure whether or not Phenom would be occupying a starting stall in the 2000 Guineas on April 14: “We pushed him out long to see whether he stayed or not and now we are back sprinting and this is where he seems to prefer. As to the Guineas, I will have to check with the owner."
