Thanks to Sly Stalloon and jockey Oneil Mullings
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Sly Stalloon provided his trainer Ralph Porter with his 100th winner in the Caymanas Sunday (Feb 13) first.
Racing in a three-year-old Optional Claiming ($250,000 - $200,000) event going 5 ½ furlongs, Sly Stalloon recorded his third win from 74 starts.
Sharp Skirt the even money favourite was left in her stall when the starter pressed his button leaving Faulyna Forever (Roger Hewitt), and Sly Stalloon(Oneil Mullings) to vie for the lead. The latter two matched strides until they reached the three-furlong marker when Sly Stalloon went about his business carrying the field in the home stretch for the final two furlongs.
Mullings had to work overtime as Mr Lyndhurst (Dane Dawkins) running on the inside rails came with a surge. Mullings and Sly Stalloon were able to hold on by a short head for the victory. Funky Fashion (Samantha Fletcher) finished third.
