KINGSTON, Jamaica – Racing in a three-year-old maiden condition event (fillies only) going six furlongs, Diamond Star ridden by Aaron Chatrie for trainer Gresford Smith shed the tag with ease.
That first win by Diamond Star at odds of 3-1 came in a field of six after the late withdrawal of Lover Craft and She’s So Fabulous. It was the second win on the day for Chatrie and the fifth this season for Smith, four of which were with Chatrie in the saddle.
Chatrie watched in the catbird’s seat as Little Grovy Thing (Matthew Bennett) set the fractions.
Diamond Star made her move close to entering the straight for the final two furlongs and from there is was done and dusted, winning by a commanding 10 lengths.
Itz What Itz (Odeen Edwards), who was slowly out ran on for second with Prime One (Oshane Nugent) third.
