KINGSTON, Jamaica – A strong effort by Mirabilis earned the seven-year-old bay mare her 12th career victory from 78 starts in the Caymanas Saturday fourth.

That win by Mirabilis ridden by Robert Halledeen for trainer Dale Murphy came in a three-year-old and upwards claimer ($750,000 - $600,000) going 6 ½ furlongs.

After taking the lead when the starter let them go, Mirabilis was constantly challenged by Casual Affair (Dick Cardenas) with Bruce Wayne (Aaron Chatrie) and Fearless Champion (Anthony Thomas) hovering close by.

With 3 ½ furlongs to go Casual Affair took over but Halledeen racing on the inside rails pushed Mirabilis to quickly regain the advantage coming into the stretch in front.

With a strong gallop, Mirabilis shook off his main challengers but in the final half-a-furlong Biblical Legend (Ramon Nepare) surged but it was too late. Third went to Bruce Wayne.

This was the second win in a row for Mirabilis.
