KINGSTON, Jamaica – As the prestigious Mouttet Mile draws near, The Quick Galloper examines the potential contenders.

In this analysis, three-year-olds take centre stage.

According to the latest provisional list of starters for this year's Mouttet Mile, six three-year-olds are among the top 16.

Interestingly, none of this year's Classic winners have yet succeeded in higher classes.

A breakdown of these six three-year-olds in the top 16 is presented below.

1 – MAMMA MIA, winner of the 1000 Guineas and the Jamaica Oaks, has raced once in the six-furlong Port Royal Sprint since claiming victory in the Oaks in early August. Her performance in the Port Royal Sprint was not particularly noteworthy, only appearing briefly in the early stages. Nevertheless, she has been consistently training and is likely to participate in the Mouttet Mile.

2 – THALITA claimed victory in the 10-furlong Jamaica St Leger but struggled against her peers in the 12-furlong Derby. Thalita's absence from recent exercise reports has sparked speculation that she may not race for the remainder of the season.

3 – MOJITO made a name for herself during the early stages of three-year-old races with wins in The Kingston and the 2000 Guineas. Since then, however, he has competed without success in higher grades. His trainer Richard Azan confirmed that Mojito is being prepared for the Mouttet Mile and has been training well.

4 – ABILITY flourished by winning the Jamaica Derby. Since then, he competed once more in the Port Royal Sprint, finishing seventh, eleven lengths behind the winner. This experience among more seasoned competitors should prove advantageous for Ability as he takes on a mile challenge in the Mouttet Mile.

5 – MONEY MISER placed second in the 2000 Guineas, the St Leger, and the Derby. Following the Derby, he raced thrice, securing victories twice at the non-two and non-three levels. He still has a condition to meet before reaching Overnight Allowance. The Mouttet Mile marks a significant step up for Money Miser, who will join the starting lineup.

6 – IS THAT A FACT is the only foreign three-year-old among the Mouttet Mile's top 16 contenders. He drew attention after four consecutive wins but was ultimately outperformed by Mahogany in the Port Royal Sprint. Is That A Fact finished a disappointing eleventh in Port Royal but has maintained a solid training regimen, making his participation in the Mouttet Mile likely.
