KINGSTON, Jamaica – The 2022 – 2000 Guineas (one mile for three-year-old colts and geldings) is set to be contested on Sunday next (June 5) at Caymanas Park.
As a build-up to this year’s 2000 Guineas, QUICKGALLOP.COM looks back at the participants of the 2021 edition to find out ... where are they now?
FIRST – Miniature Man: After winning this Classic event, Miniature Man has been beset by injuries that took him off the track for a long period. He returned to the Overnight Allowance level about a month ago and is fighting his way to full fitness.
SECOND – Nuclear Noon: Ran one of his best races as a three-year-old to finish second in the 2000. Nuclear Noon trained  Anthony Nunes has progressed well in his career, going through his class conditions with relative ease, and is now a member of the Open Allowance club.
THIRD – Further and Beyond: The fact that Further and Beyond was unanimously voted as the Horse of the Year says it all. Although not winning any of the Classic races, Further and Beyond blossomed in the latter part of the season with outstanding victories in the top-rated Jamaica Cup and the Ian Levy Trophy races. At four, Further and Beyond continues to be the highest-rated horse in the land.
FOURTH – Billy Whizz: Followed this good effort with a close second in the Jamaica Derby. Billy Whizz has continued to be among the top-rated performers as a four-year-old.
FIFTH – Bern Notice: Has done well to go through his conditions and has now reached the level of Overnight Allowance. Bern Notice has been paying his way.
SIXTH - Regal and Royal: Nothing to report.
SEVENTH – Calculus: The best was yet to come. Calculus went on to crown himself in glory with victories in the Jamaica Derby, the Jamaica St Leger, and the Gold Cup. At four, Calculus has already won two races.
