KINGSTON, Jamaica – The 2022 – 1000 Guineas (one mile for three-year-old fillies) is set to be contested on Saturday next (June 4) at Caymanas Park.
As a build-up to the year’s first Classic, QUICKGALLOP.COM looks back at the participants of the 2021 edition to find out ... where are they now?
FIRST – She’s A Wonder: This gifted filly after winning the 1000 Guineas went on to take a second Classic, the 10-furlong Jamaica Oaks. She’s A Wonder has earned a win in the Open Allowance grouping but has not raced yet in 2022 but is on the track exercising. Her return is anxiously anticipated.
SECOND – Amy The Butcher: Since her gallant second in the 1000, Amy The Butcher has had her fair share of injury issues. Amy The Butcher was sold recently and started to take training orders from Anthony Nunes. Since then, Amy the Butcher has won twice in succession to signal a welcome return to form. Now Amy The Butcher has reached the level of Overnight Allowance.
THIRD – Secret Identity: This filly has been haunted by injuries that have served to curtail her racing engagements. Secret Identity has progressed to Open Allowance and has shown enough quality to be successful in the grade.
FOURTH – Hoist The Mast: Was not able to build on neither her two or three-year-old efforts. Hoist The Mast is now on the breeding farm and was serviced by Savoy Stomp.
FIFTH – Sure Curlin: Sure Curlin has been hampered with injuries.
SIXTH – Heavenly Glitter: Heavenly Glitter has been battering around trying to get through her conditions.
SEVENTH – Awesome Choice: Still trying to find her way.
EIGHTH – Sweet Majesty: Sweet Majesty has been around without providing any inspiration.
NINTH – Sensational Ending: Went on a long break to deal with injuries, then returned a winner about two months ago and has since been finding it difficult to repeat.
TENTH – Jahsendblessings: Nothing of significance to report on Jahsendblessings.
ELEVENTH – Ianzha Links: Still pitter-pattering around.
TWELFTH – Silver Hawk: Silver Hawk continues to plod around.
THIRTEENTH – Alexa’s Dream: Seems to be earning her way, and that is it.
