KINGSTON, Jamaica - The first two-year-old contest in 2023, was run on August 1. This call had four starters with Banadura running away with the win for trainer Jason DaCosta and jockey Abigail Able.
Quickgallopja.com checks in to find out the progress made by these four juvenile starters done in finishing order.
FIRST: BANADURA has won three races from seven starts with estimated career earnings of just over $2.5 million. Included in those three victories were successes in the six-furlong Hot Line Stakes (three-year-old fillies only) and the seven-furlong Thornbird Stakes, again for three-year-old fillies only. Banadura has established herself as a one of the top locally bred three-year-old fillies along with leader Run Julie Run and Comehometome, and Blu Sensation. Banadura is best known for her speed, seemingly best suited for the middle distances. She will continue to earn her keep.
SECOND: BLU SENSATION from her 13 starts to date has won twice with earning close to $2 million. In her last win on July 7, 2024, Blu Sensation showed marked improvement at seven furlongs which augurs well for her participation in the upcoming 10-furlong Jamaica Oaks. Blu Sensation is certainly one to follow and will reach the level of Overnight Allowance with any fuss.
THIRD: LUCY IN THE SKY won a maiden event as a two-year-old but has fallen out the ramp at three. Can be classified as a disappointed.
FOURTH: HIMAYA is still a maiden and will remain so for a while.
