Where Are They Now? Runners In 2023 Gold Cup

KINGSTON, Jamaica - The Philip Feanny Gold Cup will be held on October 5, 2024, at Caymanas Park.

The winner of this seven-furlong race will automatically qualify for the 2024 Mouttet Mile.

Let's take a look at the current status of the seven participants from the 2023 Gold Cup, in order of their finishing positions: 

FIRST: She’s My Destiny - After her come-from-behind victory in the Gold Cup, she retired with a total of 13 wins, 2 second-place finishes, and two third places from 24 starts, earning over $12 million. She's currently in foal after being put to stallion Sensational Slam at HAM STABLES. 

SECOND: Mahogany - Since the Gold Cup, Mahogany has raced seven times, winning twice. However, he has not won any races in 2024 and will not be racing for the remainder of the year. With 17 wins, six second-place finishes, and five third-place finishes from 35 starts, Mahogany has earned just over $19 million. 

THIRD: Ability - The former Derby winner finished second in the 2023 Mouttet Mile and has won three times in 2024. Ability changed stables, moving from Patrick Lynch to Fitzgerald Richards. 

FOURTH: Perfect Brew - Now a five-year-old, Perfect Brew has raced six times since the Gold Cup, winning once. However, he has not achieved success in 2024, with four starts resulting in no wins. Perfect Brew seems to have lost some of his form but is still active.

FIFTH: Rojorn Di Pilot - After the Gold Cup, Rojorn Di Pilot ran twice without winning and has now retired to a farm. 

SIXTH: I Am Fred - Dealing with health issues, I Am Fred has raced only four times since the Gold Cup, with one victory in 2024. He is still active but not consistently participating in morning exercises. 

SEVENTH: I’ve Got Magic - Unfortunately, I’ve Got Magic has moved on to greener pastures.
