KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was an easy Classic victory for the `1-5 favourite Above And Beyond in this year’s renewal of the 1000 Guineas, a race restricted to three-year-old fillies only at Caymanas Park a shot while ago.
With the Scotch bonnet hot Dane Nelson in the saddle, Above And Beyond trained by champion Anthony Nunes was floating down the backstretch from the number 14 draw with Another Affair (Robert Halledeen) next in line.
This duo pulled themselves away from the rest in the field and made it a two horse contest before the well-built Above and Beyond started to stretch her long legs to win as if on a stroll by a commanding 6 ½ lengths. Another Affair was second with SenCity third.
The winning time was 1:38.4.
Above and Beyond was the third winner for Nelson and the fourth for Nunes on the day.
Nunes has now won five of the last six Classic races at Caymanas Park.
