KINGSTON, Jamaica - There was no happier individual at Caymanas Park on Sunday, September 15, 2024, than trainer Anthony Nunes.

The former champion conditioner watched with some delight when his charge Warsaw returned from a long break of 99 days having last faced the starter in June following a debut win on May 23, to notch another success.

Racing with the blinkers on, Warsaw achieved his second win from three starts in a three-year-old non-winners of two for locally bred horses, and a maiden call for three-year-old foreign bred horses going 5 ½ furlongs.

Warsaw went by the post in a favourable clocking of 1:07.3 with splits of 23.2 x 48.1 x 1:01.1. Fearless Force (Delroy Beharie) finished second with Pope’s Lady (Paul Francis) third.

“The win by Warsaw was especially pleasing. At the stables, we had to put in some hard work, as Warsaw has his problems.

“From early on, we realized that Warsaw had ability, especially in the area of sprinting. The issue was always getting him fit and proper to race, and, of course, to race effectively.

“On Sunday, Warsaw started to realise his potential, but for me, I was particularly pleased with his fighting spirit. He was the leader, came into the straight with the advantage, then was seriously challenged, but Warsaw fought resolutely, to get by three-parts of a length,” Nunes shared with this website.
