KINGSTON, Jamaica - After seven career starts including three second-place finishes, Bella Soul finally claimed victory in a native-bred three-year-old maiden race over five furlongs on the round course.
Ridden by Dane Dawkins and trained by Gary Subratie, Bella Soul sprinted to an early lead and maintained her position ahead of Mr Wonderful (Ramon Nepare) and Tuts (Javaniel Patterson) entering the half-mile turn.
As they approached the final stretch, Bella Soul faced a tough challenge from Tuts as both horses pulled away together from the rest of the pack.
Showing immense determination, Bella Soul regained her lead in deep stretch and eventually won by a 7 ¾-length margin. Tuts placed second while Mr Wonderful secured third place.
The race concluded with a final time of 1:03.3 (24.1 x 48.1).
