KINGSTON, Jamaica – With multiple carryovers on the day (April 30), the Caymanas Saturday card got underway with 7-1 chance Victoria’s Medallion winning for trainer | owner Leroy Tomlinson and jockey Tevin Foster.
Victoria’s Medallion obliged in a four-year-old and upwards maiden condition race at 5 ½ furlongs.
When the starter let go the 12 runners, Foster pushed Victoria’s Medallion to lead but was quickly pounced on by the surprising 4-5 on favourite Joyful (Raddesh Roman), with 67-1 outsider Blue Seas (Omar Simpson) bouncing along in third place.
Foster kept Victoria’s Medallion on the inside as Joyful entered the straight holding the advantage, but the latter stuttered quickly, which allowed Victoria’s Madallion to take the lead but this filly had to pull out everything to withstand the persistent challenge of Blue Seas. Conundrum (Dick Cardenas) came on to snatch third place.
