‘VANQUISHED’ AT 42-1 IN CAYMANAS SUNDAY FIFTH

KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a turn up for the books, the Ray Phillips trained, Matthew Bennett ridden, Vanquisher held on strongly in a tight finish to take the Caymanas Saturday fifth at long odds of 42-1.
Vanquisher’s victory came in a three-year-old (non-winner of two races) Restricted Allowance call travelling 4 ½ furlongs.
Bennett settled Vanquisher in mid-pack but went to the lead when they came on the main track and when it looked safe for the three-year-old chestnut colt, Will The Conquerer (Phillip Parchment) came a calling.
Vanquished was able to repel the Will The Conquerer challenge and in a tight finish eventually got the nod by a neck. Third went to Quiet Boss (Kiaman McGregor).
Of note is that after the upset win by Vanquisher there were only four live tickets left in the Reggae-6 with one race to go.
