US RACING: California Chrome stallion fee set at US$30,000

Taylor Made Stallions has set its 2020 stallion roster and fees with its roster led by California Chrome, who will stand the upcoming breeding season for US$30,000.

A two-time Horse of the Year, seven-time Grade 1 winner and the richest Kentucky Derby winner in history with more than US$14 million earned, California Chrome was represented this year by in-demand first yearlings of up to US$325,000. Purchasers included Baoma Corp., Solis/Litt, Bobby Flay, Shadai Farm, Crow-Sharp Venture, Woodford Thoroughbreds and Willis Horton Racing.

Not This Time, who stands for US$12,500, was a romping winner of the Iroquois Stakes (G3), runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and a half-brother to Liam’s Map, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and a leading first-crop sire. He remains the most brilliant 2-year-old ever by sire of sires Giant’s Causeway. Not This Time’s first-crop yearlings proved popular in the sale ring this year, selling for up to US$375,000.

Midnight Storm, a Grade 1 winner by the late Pioneerof the Nile, was a seven-time Graded stakes winner who bankedUS $1,783,110 in a stellar racing career. His first foals arrived this year and will be yearlings in 2020. Midnight Storm stands for US$10,000.

Global superstar Mshawish, Medaglia d’Oro’s only Grade 1 winner on dirt and turf and his fastest dirt miler, saw his first yearlings sell for up to US$235,000 at F-T Saratoga and US$125,000 at Keeneland September. He stands for US$10,000 as well.

Daddy Long Legs, a multiple Graded stakes-winning millionaire by Scat Daddy, topped all first-crop sires in Chile, siring 2-Year-Old Champion Colt Fallen From Heaven, a Grade 1 winner on dirt and a Grade 2 winner on turf in his initial crop, before relocating to Taylor Made for the 2019 season. He'll stand for US$7,500 in 2020.

Taylor Made Stallions is offering previous breeders discounted seasons for the upcoming season. Breeders who have bred to California Chrome, Daddy Long Legs, Midnight Storm, Mshawish or Not This Time in the past three years on a live foal contract are eligible for a previous breeders’ fee on any stallion for the 2020 breeding season. To receive the discount, contracts must be submitted by November 1.
