RACE TYPE – Three-year-olds and upwards Overnight Allowance DISTANCE – 5 furlongs straight
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Omar Walker had all his Christmas wishes come true with a workmanlike five-timer which was crowned in fine style by a resurgent Universal Boss in the Caymanas Wednesday nightcap.
Walker played the waiting game on the Anthony Nunes trainee as cracking splits of 22.2 x 44.0 were set by the two leaders Capturemyship and England’s Rose.
But being the beneficiary of the outside draw, Walker got Universal Boss to motor in the last furlong and the four-year-old bay gelding running as if possessed found much more to sail by Capturemyship and England’s Rose.
The final time was 56.4 which is just three-fifths of a second slower than the track record of 56.1 held by Musical Maestro and MinisterofJustice.
