Fixed odds betting on Caymanas Park races has already started internationally. Check this out!
If you were planning to bet big favourites Sentient and England's Rose this weekend, you would naturally expect very small odds.
Sentient was 1/9 throughout most of betting on the local tote, ending up at 2/5. However, in international fixed odds markets, he was around 4/7 throughout.
England’s Rose was offering 2/1 in fixed odds markets 30 minutes to post, eventually coming down to 3/2; so, there was better value early, but still a far better price at the end relative to the 4/5 odds she ended up on the tote.
This highlights a point that was made by betMaster last week, and one of the best aspects of fixed odds betting - it provides greater overall value but allows the bettor to shop around between the tote and the fixed odds for prices.
With highly favoured runners such as England’s Rose and Sentient, they are so heavily bet on the tote that others in the race will get inflated prices. Conversely, these favourites will be at much better odds throughout fixed odds betting, but the other runners may not have the high prices they have on the tote.
This results in the potential of a far better margin of return whichever way you want to look at it!
So, when fixed odds betting arrives in Jamaica, you can get value on those 'can't lose' runners! And if you like a longshot, you can shop around!
OTHER NOTABLE PRICES THIS WEEKEND:
-
International fixed odds bookmakers had Lightning McQueen as fourth choice when markets were first opened on Friday, behind Stanislaus, Isinbeyeva and Polly B.
This difference allowed ‘early shoppers' to lock-in 6-1, and it ended up paying 3-1 on the tote!
-
Storm Princess ended up at 5/2 on the tote in winning the fourth race on Saturday, but her opening fixed odds price was 17/1!

Philip Feanny needs no introduction as a legendary trainer, but his horses usually 'tilt the tote board'. But in fixed odds markets, it's irrelevant who the trainer is.
