KINGSTON, Jamaica – After failing several times in the higher Overnight Allowance grade, Uncle Frank notched his 10th career victory from 69 starts in a high claiming event ($1,000,000 - $800,000 - three-year-olds and upwards) at one mile in the Caymanas Saturday fourth.
Ridden by Anthony Thomas and trained by Jason DaCosta, Uncle Frank was settled in fourth place after the gates opened as Let Him Fly (Tevin Foster) set the early pace followed by Rohan Kabir (Abigail Able – on the inside) and Dejae’s Boy (Shane Ellis).
Those positions remained the same as the horses turned for home as Let Him Fly quickened to increase the lead margin on rivals.
The first to offer resistance was Dejae’s Boy but that effort petered out and it was then left to Uncle Frank, who was switched from the outside to the inside to tackle Let Him Fly.
Uncle Frank then found his top stride and went by to defeat Let Him Fly by 2 ¾ lengths.
Third went to Dejae’s Boy.
