KINGSTON, Jamaica – The red and white silks of owner Robert Thomas returned to the winners’ enclosure after Super Duper obliged in the Caymanas Saturday ninth (nightcap).
Super Duper, the winner of the first two-year-old race last year, who was racing for the first time in seven months, earned his second win from four starts in a three-year-old (non-winners of two) offering at 5 ½ furlongs.
It was True Bravado (Robert Halledeen) who shot off into the lead which at one stage was as much as three to four lengths.
True Bravado was followed by both Sure Curlin (Dick Cardenas) and Super Duper.
Super Duper and True Bravado entered the straight together with Sure Curlin getting a clear lane on the inside rails but with some catching up to do.
Super Duper took over but Sure Curlin kept pestering and in the run in - it was again a dog fight between Thomas and Cardenas but this time Thomas was the conqueror.
The win on Super Duper sealed a triple on the day for Thomas and a double for DaCosta.
