Trainer's Licence Suspended | Other JRC Disciplinary Actions

The following is a release on disciplinary actions taken by the stewards of the Jamaica Racing Commission.

PRESS RELEASE

The Stewards announce the following disciplinary actions arising from inquiries held at the offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission, 8 Winchester Road, Kingston 10, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

Jockey PRINCE HOLDER who rode BLUE SKY in the first (1^st) race on Saturday, 04^th February 2023 was fined Eight Thousand Dollars ($8,000.00) for the excessive use of his whip throughout the race.

Jockey SAMANTHA FLETCHER who rode GONE A NEGRIL in the seventh (7^th) race on Saturday, 04^th February, 2023 was suspended for twenty-five (25) race days for not taking all reasonable and permissible measure throughout the race to ensure the horse was given its best possible placing.  The suspension will take effect on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Jockey CHRISTOPHER MAMDEEN who rode LETTERS IN GOLD in the second (2^nd) race on Sunday, 26^th February, 2023 was suspended for one (1) race day and fined Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) for the intimidation and interference caused to THEGOODLIFE leaving the 600-metre point that resulted in the disqualification of LETTERS IN GOLD. The suspension will take effect on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Jockey PAUL FRANCIS who rode LOVE DUB in the third (3^rd) race on Sunday, 26^th February, 2023 was suspended for two (2) race days and fined Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) for the intimidation caused to JOSH in the final 100-metres that resulted in the disqualification of LOVE DUB.  The suspension will take effect on Saturday, March 11, 2023. 

Jockey ROBERT HALLEDEEN who rode KISSMET in the ninth (9^th) race on Sunday, 26^th February, 2023 was suspended for four (4) race days and fined Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) for the intimidation caused to EXOTIC LIGHT approaching the 300-metre point that resulted in the disqualification of KISSMET.  The suspension will take effect on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

Trainer RICHARD PHILLIPPS who was summoned by the Stewards for the breach of Rules 15(iv), 247(xii) and 247A (i)(iii)(iv) on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, had his Trainer’s licence suspended for one (1) and month and the matter referred to the Commission for further action.
