Robert Halledeen gets underway with Chief of State
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Steven Todd became the first trainer in 2022 to saddle a double when Chief of State ran out an easy winner of the New Year’s Day sixth, which was run for the McKay Security Sprint Trophy. Todd won the fifth race with his three-year-old Awesome Rich.
This trophy race was for five-year-old and upwards claimers ($180,000 - $150,000) going 3 12 furlongs.
With the red hot Robert Halledeen in the saddle, Chief of State left his starting stall like there was no tomorrow, winning by all of 9 ½ lengths.
El Maestro (Shane Ellis) the 2-5 favourite finished second with DM Cutie (Jordan Barrett) third.
