KINGSTON, Jamaica – The distinction of winning the first race in 2024, went to Thegoodlife, trained by Cashbert Khwalsingh with Ramon Nepare doing duties in the saddle.
Thegoodlife, now a six-year-old bay mare, Thegoodlife was recording his fourth career victory from 57 starts, bringing total earnings to over $3 million. This latest win was achieved in a three-year-old and up Optional Claimer ($400,000 - $300,000), at seven furlongs.
For Khwalsingh, the victory was a rousing kickoff to the season.
"Winning a race isn't just about the glory," he explained, "It's the lifeblood that keeps the stables thriving, our primary objective." Taking home the first win of a fresh racing year may not shatter records, but it lays a solid foundation for the stables to build upon, he shared with Quickgallop.com.
The previous year saw Khwalsingh make his way to the winners' enclosure on three separate occasions from a total of 86 starts.
