KINGSTON, Jamaica – The seventh event on Saturday, May 10, 2025, is the Mother’s Day Special, a three-year-old, non-winners of two call in which nine horses are entered.

The Quick Galloper’s take on the possible outcome of this five-furlong call is shared below for the benefit of readers on Quickgallopja.com.

1 – STRONG MIND

Strong Mind is a bay colt by Casual Trick out of Charming Beauty, trained by Patrick Lynch with Shane Richardson riding. He will race with blinkers on. Strong Mind is making a quick return to competition after racing in The Kingston six days ago. In that event, he demonstrated an improvement in form compared to previous outings. However, the short turnaround between races raises concerns about his ability to maintain peak performance.

2 – BIG BUZZ

Big Buzz is a bay colt (April 15) by Buzz Nightmare out of Lady Tarkari, trained by Adrian Prince with Demar Williams at the reins. He will race with blinkers on. Big Buzz continues his efforts in the non-winners of two category, which is part of his development process. His previous performances indicate that he is still adjusting to the demands of this level of competition.

3 – ANOTHER ONE

Another One is a bay colt (March 18) by Aveenu Malcainu out of Chinitagoodaz, trained by Anthony Nunes with Shane Ellis aboard. He has shown progress as a sprinter and was narrowly defeated by a short head over 5 ½ furlongs in his last race on April 5. Another One has already secured a victory coming down the chute, and based on his recent form, he is in a strong position to secure his second win.

4 – ENTHUSIASM

Enthusiasm is a bay filly (March 12) by Wow Wow out of Noon It Is, trained by Anthony Nunes with Omar Walker riding. She won on debut but has struggled in her two subsequent starts at this level. Enthusiasm will need to demonstrate significant improvement to be competitive in this race.

5 – EASY MONEY

Easy Money is a chestnut colt (March 29) by Sunshine N Shadow out of Midnight In Paris, trained by Anthony Nunes with Reyan Lewis holding the reins. He has maintained a level of consistency in his performances, which suggests that he has the potential to secure a place on the board.

6 – MY ECLIPSE

My Eclipse is a bay colt (March 31) by Sensational Slam out of My Episode, trained by Phillip Lee with Raddesh Roman as the designated rider. His performance in The Kingston was unremarkable, and there is little indication that he will show improvement in this race.

7 – BANGARANG

Bangarang is a grey colt (June 3) by Sensational Slam out of Ladylike, trained by Lincoln Lungs with Richie Shakes riding. He made a promising start to his career with a strong closing effort on debut over four furlongs. His ability to finish well suggests that he could be a factor in this race.

8 – LOCKDOWN

Lockdown is a chestnut colt (April 29) by Strikewhileitshot out of Aria, trained by Howard Jaghai with Paul Francis at the reins. He won on debut in the stewards but is now entering the non-winners of two category for the first time. Given the level of competition, he may need additional experience before becoming a serious contender.

9 – SIMPLY ENCHANTING

Simply Enchanting is a chestnut filly (March 24) by Soul Warrior out of My Elle Belle, trained by Oral Hayden with Dick Cardenas aboard. Her performance in The Portmore was not competitive, and based on that showing, she is unlikely to be a factor in this race.
