KINGSTON, Jamaica – The 2023 Jamaica Oaks, a ten-furlong, fillies-only Classic will take place on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

Twelve horses are set to compete in this year's event.

In anticipation, The Quick Galloper takes a look back at the progress—or lack thereof—of the ten starters from the 2022 Jamaica Oaks, which also occurred in August.

This report is organized by finishing order.

FIRST – OUR ANGEL: After winning the Oaks, this filly failed to develop further. Our Angel has since retired to stud and will be served by Paradise at Sprint Village stallion, Bern Identity.

SECOND – SUNSET SILHOUETTE: Since finishing second in the 2022 Jamaica Oaks, Sunset Silhouette has progressed to the Overnight Allowance grade and has been competitive without securing a victory as of yet.

THIRD – PELICULA: Placing third in the Jamaica Oaks was likely Pelicula's peak performance during her career. She has now retired to stud.

FOURTH – GOLDEN WATTLE: The former champion two-year-old led for an extended period in the Oaks but ultimately backed out quickly. Golden Wattle retired to stud without realizing her initial potential.

FIFTH – FLY MESSENGER FLY: As the most frequently raced horse among this group, Fly Messenger Fly now competes at the non-winners of four level. This determined filly consistently earns money and covers her expenses.

SIXTH – LOVE DUB: Love Dub has not achieved anything notable following her Oaks attempt.

SEVENTH – SILENT MISSION: Regrettably, Silent Mission has passed away.

EIGHTH – AAVA JAELYN: A tenacious contender, Aava Jaelyn perseveres in her racing career.

NINTH – OOH SO LONG: There is not much to report on Ooh So Long's progress.

TENTH – RUNAWAY ICON: Runaway Icon keeps trying, albeit with limited success.
