KINGSTON, Jamaica – Three of the eleven races on Saturday, June 25, 2022, are designated for three-year-olds. Two of those events feature three-year-old non-winners of two with the third call.
Below THE QUICK GALLOPER analyses the eight starters in Division One of the non-two offering at five furlongs straight.
– Buzz City Light is a bay gelding (April 7) by Buzz Nightmare out of Forced On Me trained by Jason DaCosta with Anthony Thomas in the saddle. Following a change of barn, Buzz City Light scored with easy-going five furlongs straight. Stepping up to this grade for the first time, Buzz City Light will be found wanting especially starting from the dreaded one draw.
– Phoenix Risen is a chestnut colt (February 16) by Traditional out of Impetus trained by Ryan Darby with Omar Walker in the saddle. Has not lived up to three-year-old expectations with a change of prospect, not on the cards.
– Power of Faith is a chestnut gelding (April 13) by Key To Power out of Yield To Faith trained Donovan Plummer with Roger Hewitt in the saddle. Slowly finding his way in this class. Note, Power of Faith races with the visor on.
– Wowza is dark bay colt (USA-March 5) by Jack Milton out of Springtime Rain trained by Anthony Nunes with Shane Ellis in the saddle. This foreigner has not hit the board in eight attempts, and the same is again expected. Notes, Wowza races with the blinkers on.
– Degaulle is bay colt (March 23) by Soul Warrior out of Femme Doree trained by Philip Feanny with Aaron Chatrie in the saddle. Degaulle ran ahead of Buzz City Light on May 8 over Saturday’s trip and has already started at non-two. This colt will feature in the exacta and trifecta wagers.
– KP Choice is a bay colt (March 10) by Nasheet out of Drop Dem trained by Phillip Lee with Andre Powell in the saddle. KP Choice will struggle against these. Note, KP Choice races with the blinkers off.
– Perfect Brew is a bay gelding (May 10) by Bern Identity out of Moonlight Bay trained by Richard Azan with Bebeto Harvey in the saddle. Perfect Brew has struggled to reproduce his two-year-old form as a three-year-old, with this contest providing him with a clear opportunity to discover the winners’ enclosure again. Perfect Brew was a no show in the 2000 Guineas finishing seventh, 21 lengths behind the winner Blue Vinyl. Note, Perfect Brew races with the figure 8 on.
– Gilbert is a chestnut colt (USA - April 6) by Jack Milton out of Causin A Storm trained by Philip Feanny with Everton Miller in the saddle. Gilbert has raced seven times in this grouping finishing second on four occasions but will have to wait.
