KINGSTON, Jamaica – After five races were completed on the 11-race card currently taking place at Caymanas Park there was three odds on favourites winning plus there was a winner at even money.
Then came the sixth and with it the upsetter thus far on the day, Eddie’s Princess at odds of 11-1.
Ridden by Phillip Parchment for trainer Paul Smith in a $450,000 - $400,000 claiming event run over 6 ½ furlongs, Eddie Princess moving from the one draw was never with the early pace setters led by Buckaluck (Trevor Simpson – 43-1) and Five Star (Linton Steadman – 2-1) who eventually broke down.
Parchment could not continue along the rails forcing him to switch his mount to the outside after getting by the three-furlong pole.
It the straight, Buckaluck faltered leaving way for Flying Machine (Anthony Thomas – 5-2) and Mirabilis (Raddesh Roman – 3-1) to fight it out with Parchment timing his move on the outside.
Eddie’s Princess responded and flew by the leaders to win by a length in a time of 1:22.1.
Flying Machine was second with Mirabilis third.
