KINGSTON, Jamaica - To win one Derby is quite an achievement. To win two is the hallmark of greatness.
Groom Robert Wedderburn, otherwise called West, holds the unique distinction of winning two Derby races, and to boot he achieved that feat in the same year, 1997, by winning the Darby in Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago with Mr Lover Lover.
West is also a former champion groom, who has made the winners’ enclosure his own territory.
At age 65, he continues with undeniable passion and love to groom horses.
