KINGSTON, Jamaica – The examination of the 2022 three-year-olds by THE QUICK GALLOPER continues with a look at the third race of ten on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
This race is a three-year-old contest for maidens going 5 ½ furlongs and has nine horses entered. The following analysis is done in post-position order.
YELLOWSTONE is a three-year-old chestnut gelding (May 6) by Sensational Slam out of Awry trained by Al Brown with Shane Ellis in the saddle. Yellowstone was heavily backed on his debut run on April 3 but was 10-lengths fourth behind winner Thalos. Yellowstone having gained some experience from that first run will be better off on Saturday, and with Ellis aiming to achieve his 1,300th career win, he will be at full throttle to reach this significant milestone. Plus, Yellowstone has continued to show improvement at exercise. Yellowstone races with the tongue tie on.
WITHOUT REMORSE is a three-year-old chestnut colt (May 12) by Midnight Hawk out of Lady In Gold trained by Randolph Scott with a returning Andre Martin in the saddle. Without Remorse has raced twice and has not shown anything of worth.
CODE OF CONDUCT is a three-year-old bay filly (February 3) by Midnight Hawk out of Amicable trained by Gresford Smith with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. The presence of the joint leading rider on Code of Conduct has raised the interest level of this first-timer. Code of Conduct, according to the morning exercise crew has been progressing and is expected to be around when the winning post arrives.
ENGLISH ANNE is a three-year-old chestnut filly (April 26) by Buzz Nightmare out of Very Hush Hush trained by Welsh Soutar with Everton Miller in the saddle. English Anne is still on her learning curve.
FREEDOM STREET is a three-year-old bay gelding (April 17) by Uncaptured out of No Fashion Sense trained by Patrick Lynch with Raddesh Roman in the saddle. This gelding was thereabouts when racing for the second occasion on April 9, but weakened going six furlongs. Should benefit with the trip half-furlong shorter but will have to show much improvement. Freedom Street races with first-time Lasix.
SIR RAGBAR BAPI is a three-year-old bay gelding (March 30) by Storm Craft out of Lady Najariya trained by Rowan Mathie with Youville Pinnock in the saddle. Needs more time.
KING AIR is a three-year-old chestnut colt (March 14) by Midnight Hawk out of Mameta trained by Edward Stanberry with Paul Francis in the saddle. King Air is a newcomer, who will benefit from the outing.
JUPITER MAN is a three-year-old chestnut colt (March 20) by Storm Craft out of Valley of Queens trained by Edward Stanberry with Kiaman McGregor in the saddle. Jupiter Man is making slow progress at exercise and as a newbie will only learn from the experience.
RISKY BID is a three-year-old bay filly (January 19) by Blue Pepsi Lodge out of Zensational trained by Ray Phillips with Christopher Mamdeen in the saddle. Risky Bid finished fourth on her debut five days ago by 3 ½ lengths behind disqualified Josh at 4 ½ furlongs. With that first effort under her girth, Risky Bid must be respected.
