KINGSTON, Jamaica – Prncsshootingstar promised much after winning the first two-year-old race in 2021.
Then she went off the boil, managing only manage two wins from six starts.
Prncsshootingstar, bred by Buzz Nightmare out of Khaleesi's Revenge, returned from a six-month layoff on Saturday, November 26, 2022, and reignited the sparks with a runaway win in the $1.09-million Pick-3 "Straight" Trophy coming down the 5-straight (1,000m) course.
Ridden by Oneil Mullings, Prncsshootingstar was off to a good start as the Philip Feanny trainee raced close to Phoenix Risen (Paul Francis) and A Gift From Ben (Jordan Barrett) in the early exchanges.
Crossing the dummy rails, Prncsshootingstar became the lone leader and began to open up on the chasing pack. The three-year-old bay filly won by 3 ¾ lengths in a time of 59.4.
Thalos (Shane Ellis) finished in second place, and Talona (Youville Pinnock) came home in third place.
"I think it [performance by Prncsshootingstar] was very good considering she was coming off a rest. Not sure where she goes next, but maybe next week in a Restricted Stakes event," Feanny said.
