KINGSTON, Jamaica – In doing any analysis of the race day that was Sunday, December 12, 2021, one cannot help but notice that the promoting company has a strong belief in going straight.
Seven of the 10 races were run over the straight course varying in range from five furlongs to four furlongs. Sir Promoter, the sentiment is that many of us, that is, racegoers, actually missed a race going three furlongs straight. For sure, the promoting powers that be, must have been happy to save fuel from the lack of movement throughout the day by the tractor attached to the starting gates.

BETTING – BETTORS

While there were ten races, the highlight of the day did not come from any of these offerings. Instead, after the sixth race, which was also the conclusion of the Reggae 6, one winner, a lone soul, had all six winners, including Hail Mary at 11-1; Vanquisher at 42-1, and Cup Cake at 5-1.
This single winner topped up his Christmas spending amount by the hefty sum of $8,409,160,65.
CONGRATULATIONS!

HORSES

Two performances caught the eyes, and both were by two-year-olds, namely Jaguar and Power of Faith, both first-timers.
Jaguar, a two-year-old chestnut colt by Berlino Di Tiger out of Bubbling Angeline, trained by Philip Feanny, showed considerable speed to win easily by over four lengths. Still early days yet to decipher the true worth of Jaguar but his first effort does give an indication that he will, at the very least, go through his conditions, during next season.
Power of Faith, a chestnut colt by Key To Power out of Yield To Faith, trained by Ian Parsard, like Jaguar, shot out of the starting gates and was never in danger of losing.
Like with Jaguar, Power of Faith, is likely to go through his conditions.
Interestingly, Power of Faith is the first offspring of Key To Power to race.

 TRAINERS

The intensity of the duel in the trainers’ championship involving champion Anthony Nunes and Jason DaCosta continued with the former making minimal gains on the day. This race is getting, closer and closer, and is likely to be resolved in the last days of the season when the richer races like the Ian Levy Cup, the Chris Armond Sprint, and the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes will be run.
