KINGSTON, Jamaica – Nine races will be run on the day with the feature events being the Miss Ruth Trophy and the Royal Lancaster Trophy.
THE HORSES
Three horses will be racing for the first time: Fearless Vibe and Big Argument in the fourth and Roraima in the eighth.
Fearless Vibe is a three-year-old grey filly by Fearless Vision out of The Vibes Lady trained by Ryan Darby. The Vibes Lady is also the dam of Lady Blue.
Big Argument is a three-year-old chestnut filly by Nasheet out of Bella In Bloom trained by Edward Stanberry.
Roraima is a two-year-old bay colt by Bern Identity out of Classic Princess trained by Anthony Nunes.
Of significant interest is that Love Craft trained by Jason DaCosta is entered to run on both Saturday, December 18, and Sunday, December 19. Love Craft is listed to run in the sixth race on Saturday, and the fourth on Sunday. Note that if Love Craft wins on Saturday, she would then become ineligible to race on Sunday.
In the Miss Ruth Trophy, which is a contest involving 10 juveniles racing over 6 ½ furlongs, THE QUICK GALLOPER looks at the dam lines of some of the participants.
Thirtyonekisses is a bay filly by Savoy Stomp out of Shahar trained by Richard Azan. Shahar had previously produced Little Thunder, Sheer Madness, Puddy Pooh, Awesome Sauce, Sir Puddington, and Gypsy Jam.
Giant Wheeler is a chestnut gelding by Northern Giant out of Khadiliah trained by Jason DaCosta. Khadiliah other offspring include Storm Princess, Kalahari, Elitist, and Billy Whizz.
Another Wave is a bay filly by Savoy Stomp out of High Cube trained by Tyrone Prince. High Cube has produced My Dream, Mrs Kim, and Lava Boy.
Potential is a bay colt by Traditional out of Breath of Life trained by Patrick Lynch. Breath of Life is the dam of Expeditious.
Justin Biden is a chestnut colt by Lion Tamer out of Wagon Wheel trained by Lawrence Freemantle. Wagon Wheel has produced Son of Spartacus and Coco Chanel.
Another Brother is a bay gelding by Savoy Stomp out of Absolute Justice trained by Wilfred Chin. The other progeny of Absolute Justice are Stanislaus and Zillow.
There is a horse, a bay filly, in the Miss Ruth by the name of Rupunzel (Savoy Stomp – Miss Pasion) trained by Phillip Elliott, who has raced six times and has finished second on five occasions, and fifth once. From his six races to date, Rupunzel has earned $969,150.
JOCKEYS
Apprentice Roger Hewitt leads the way on the Sunday card (December 19) with rides in six races. Hewitt is followed by champion in waiting Anthony Thomas, and Dick Cardenas, who both have mounts in five races.
Robert Halledeen is engaged to ride in two races, while the on-fire Oneil Mullings and non-claiming apprentice Oshane Nugent mount up in four races.
TRAINERS
Title-chasing Jason DaCosta will saddle eight horses in five races (4,5,7,8,9), while champion Anthony Nunes has nominated runners in four races (3,7,8,9).
In total, DaCosta has eight runners on the day: Love Craft and Morse Code in the fourth, Sudden Flight in the fifth, Sir John, Iannai Links, and Unruly Boss in the seventh, Giant Wheeler in the eighth, and Baton Rouge in the ninth.
In total, Nunes has five runners on the day: Go Deh Girl in the third, Santorini and Bern Notice in the seventh, Roraima in the eighth, and Ole King Cole in the ninth.
