Nine races to solve on the day
THE HORSES
Four first-timers will begin their racing careers.
The four are all slated to race in the second event and are:
1 – Three-year-old chestnut colt BROMPTON ALEXA by LION TAMER out of PECCADILLO trained by Ryan Darby. PECCADILLO has produced BIG MISTAKE and PEYTON’S DELIGHT.
2 – Three-year-old chestnut filly PREMIER IDENTITY by BERN IDENTITY out of TWIST AND TURN trained by Howard Jaghai. TWIST AND TURN has produced LAST WARRIOR and BIG MAMA.
3 – Three-year-old chestnut filly VALHALLA by BLUE PEPSI LODGE out of JAH KARMA trained by Anthony Nunes. JAH KARMA has produced REASONS, JAMMIN, and FIGHTING VALBEE.
4 – Three-year-old RUNAWAY ICON by DEPUTY GLITTERS out of MISS ANGELINE trained by Howard Jaghai. MISS ANGELINE has produced CHEROKEE WAY.
JOCKEYS
Champion jockey Anthony Thomas and the joint current leaders, Dane Dawkins, and Robert Halledeen seem to be taking a break of sorts with all three having three rides in the nine races on offer on the day.
Leading the jockey’s colony with the number of rides is 2019 champion Christopher Mamdeen with six rides from the nine races.
Mamdeen is followed by Tevin Foster, Roger Hewitt, and Dane Nelson, all with five rides on the day.
Interestingly, the in-form champion apprentice Oshane Nugent has only one ride.
TRAINERS
The top two trainers of last year, in order, Anthony Nunes, and Jason DaCosta look as if they are on a sabbatical. Nunes has horses in two races (2 and 4), while DaCosta will only saddle in the ninth event.
Current leader Gary Subratie has horses in three races (4, 7, and 9).
Trainer Ryan Darby leads the trainers on Saturday with horses in four races (1, 2, 3, 6).
