200 winners for Dane Dawkins

ROBERT HALLEDEEN

It’s doesn’t seem to be stopping.

The imperious winning form of jockey Robert Halledeen continues apace with another double, Chrisanli and One Don. Halledeen, since moving to the high-powered barn of champion trainer Anthony Nunes late last year has developed into a winning machine and the gears are still spinning.

Halledeen is now extending his playfield, getting mounts from all and sundry. For example, since the start of the 2022 season, Halledeen has ridden seven winners to be the joint leader with Dane Dawkins, but of his seven wins in 2022, only one, PIP, has come from the Nunes shedrow. There is a sense at the Park that Halledeen is on top, and, as such, the winners will be coming his way.

With Halledeen’s rise in what is an obvious quest for the jockeys' championship, one cannot help but notice that reigning champion Anthony Thomas is off the boil at present. Thomas made his return from injury on Saturday (Jan 15), and while it is understood that he will need time to get to his best, that time better be quick.

 DANE DAWKINS – 200 WINNERS

The 2022 Racing Year has seen the quick emergence of Dane Dawkins. Dawkins has been around for a while and is known to be a dedicated worker in the mornings plus there is little doubt that he has talent in the pigskin.

Dawkins is the current joint leader in the jockeys’ championship with seven winners after bringing home a four-timer on Saturday.

What everyone missed was that Dawkins started his Saturday assignment with 196 wins, meaning he has now reached 200 winners in his career.

THE QUICK GALLOPER congratulates Dawkins on his achievement.

PHILLIP PARCHMENT

Hit the playback button say six years ago, and one would find jockey Phillip Parchment in a state of limbo. Then he joined forces with the late trainer Wayne DaCosta and suddenly there was a metamorphosis.

Parchment started to get his hands and mind to the wheel of being a successful jockey. Then came a Classic victory in the Jamaica Oaks on PRINCESS ANNIE and the crème de la crème, victory in the blue riband Jamaica Derby on KING ARTHUR in 2020.

‘Parchy’, as he is known, is a jockey in the swashbuckling mode, using his strength and power, to get almost all of his winners.

Parchment is an example of what can be achieved with resolve and determination.
