Seven runners face the starter in the second race
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Seven starters are set to rival each other going seven furlongs in a three-year-old maiden contest on Saturday, February 15, at Caymanas Park.
THE QUICK GALLOPER looks as the seven runners and their chances of success in the order of their barrier draw.
1 – PRECIOUS P: (3 b f by Casual Trick – Twinkling Rose) – Raced for the first time 193 days ago on August 3, 2021. Returns with the tongue tie and cheekpieces on plus first- time Lasix. This filly will need time to show her worth. SPECIAL NOTE – the dam of Precious P has already produced Jon P.
2 – DEVONTE: (3 gr c by Fearless Vision – Eighteen Karat) – Devote made his first race track appearance on January 30, finishing fifth, almost nine lengths behind Nomoredeals travelling 6 1/2 furlongs. With the field not the best on offer on Saturday, Devonte has an opportunity to raise his placement position. Devonte races with the tongue tie on. SPECIAL NOTE: Eighteen Karat the dam of Devonte has already produced Dontae, Necromancer, Don Almighty, and Task Force.
3 - MASTERCLASS: (3 b g Casual Trick – Awesome Destiny) – Masterclass seems to be an unruly sort who is not ready as yet.
4 – CALL THE EMPEROR: (3 b c Emperor Hall – Call For A Cat) – Raced for the first 6 days ago and showed nothing. Call The Emperor is learning his trade and that learning progress will continue on Saturday.
5 – SCOOBY: (3 b c by Casual Trick – Royal Dutch) – This bay colt caught the eyes of pundits when he made his racing debut on January 29. Then he finished second by a short head behind Roraima going a mile, a distance, which is always a daunting task for any newcomer. Scooby returns after 15 days, fit and ready with Lasix for the first time, and seems hard to deny in this one. SPECIAL NOTE - Royal Dutch has produced Voytek.
6 – RUM PUNCHER: (3 ch g by Soul Warrior – Miss Angeline) – This gelding showed consistency in his last two runs and on Saturday racing with the blinkers on, Rum Puncher cannot be ruled out of contention. SPECIAL NOTE – Miss Angeline the dam of Rum Puncher has produced Bubbling Angeline.
7 – BERNING RED: (3 ch g Bern Identity – Feasibility Study) – This chestnut gelding ran for the first-time on December 12, 2021, when he finished third, five lengths behind Jaguar and Nomoredeals. Of note, is that Jaguar has not raced since while Nomoredeals is no longer a maiden. That December 12 race was over four furlongs, so moving up to seven furlongs and a rest period of 62 days, Berning Red now racing with the blinkers off and first time Lasix, and will have to wait. SPECIAL NOTE – Feasibility Study the dam of Berning Red has produced Kingsman.
