THE QUICK GALLOPER ASSESSES THE 3-DAY EASTER RACING CARNIVAL – THE JOCKEYS

KINGSTON, Jamaica – After three consecutive race days over the Easter weekend, with 27 races, there was a major change at the top of jockeys’ standings.
The three-day carnival started on Saturday (April 16) with Dane Nelson, now riding in Canada, atop the jockeys’ pile with 27 wins. Nelson was one win ahead of Dane Dawkins, with reigning champion Anthony Thomas in the third slot with 21 wins, six behind Nelson and five adrift of Dawkins.
Robert Halledeen was fourth with 16 wins, followed in fifth by Tevin Foster with 15 wins.
Below are the official standings going into the first race day of the Easter Carnival.

On Saturday (April 16), Thomas snatched three winners, Buckaluck, Ricky Ricardo, and Hover Craft, while Dawkins was successful only on Prosecco.
On Sunday (April 17), Thomas upped the tempo when he completed another triple (Quanna, Sharp, and Sunset Silhoutte), with Dawkins winning only on Duke. By the end of the Easter Sunday race meet, Thomas had cut the deficit by four.  Halledeen and Foster were again winless on the day.
On the final day (Monday, April 18), Thomas rode one winner (Double Diva), Dawkins and Foster none, and Halledeen one.
So, at the end of the three-day carnival, Thomas and Dawkins were locked together on 28 wins, as Thomas had successfully closed the five-win gap lead held by Dawkins.
