KINGSTON, Jamaica – El Profesor emerged from his long slumber to win the Awesome Power Trophy which was the Caymanas Monday seventh.
The Caymanas Monday seventh was a non-restricted Overnight Allowance for three-year-old and upwards travelling 7 ½ furlongs.
This trophy race suffered after three horses, Rohan Kabir, Prince Charles and Sparkle Diamond were announced as late non-starters bringing the field down to six starters.
Immediately as the gates opened Eroy (Bebeto Harvey) on the inside and Double Crown (Dane Dawkins) were locked in competition for the lead. At this stage in the race the Patrick Lynch trainee El Profesor with Tevin Foster having the reins in his hands was close to the back.
While navigating the final turn Eroy and Double Crown raced off the rails thereby opening a huge gap which Foster quickly used to push El Profesor into the lead and from that stage it was over and done with for the rest.
Dejae’s Boy (Dick Cardenas) came on for second with Double Crown third.
