The ‘Messenger’ is ‘Able’ at 16-1 in Caymanas Monday second

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The glorious uncertainty of races involving juveniles unfolded in the Caymanas Monday second when unfancied but the most experienced in the lot of eight runners, Fly Messenger Fly created the upset at 16-1.

Fly Messenger Fly, a two-year-old chestnut filly by Northern Giant - Preach Preacher with Abigail Able in the saddle for trainer Jason DaCosta delivered her first victory in a two-year-old maiden special weight event at five furlongs round.

It was a mad scramble by the youngsters for the lead with the likes of Awesome Rich (Dick Cardenas), Infinito (Robert Halledeen), Rupunzel (Tevin Foster) and Babylike (Oneil Mullings) all trying to go on top. Rounding the final part of the bend, Cardenas had to check Awesome Rich and so too the jockeys on Rupunzel and Infinito.

All this time Able was watching clear of the first four. In the straight the young lady brought Fly Messenger Fly on the outside and Abigail was able to get by rivals winning by half-a-length.

Second was Babylike with Pelicula (Jawara Steadman), who could find no space on the inside third.

After a stewards’ inquiry second by the post Babylike was disqualified and placed behind Awesome Rich.
