KINGSTON, Jamaica - The second race on Saturday, June 8, 2024, is Maiden Special Weight for native-bred three-year-olds at six furlongs.
Seven are entered to compete with The Quick Galloper’s assessment given below in draw order.
1 - AFFAIR is a bay colt (May 10) by Casual Trick out of Nuclear Affair, trained by Gary Subratie with Reyan Lewis aboard. Note that Affair races with the cheekpieces on. He has not yet been able to meet early expectations in his six starts. This is an opportunity to remedy the situation.
2 - CAPTAIN FANTASTIC is a bay colt (May 13) by Bold Conquest out of Awesome Camille, trained by Jason DaCosta with Robert Halledeen riding. Despite being installed as the 3-5 odds-on favourite on debut (May 23), Captain Fantastic was given a lesson by another debutante Warsaw going five furlongs round. Having gained that experience, Captain Fantastic, and with the distance just right, he is well-poised to get off the mark.
3 - FIRST OFFENCE is a bay colt by Conquest Cherimash out of Official Report, trained by Steven Todd with Shamaree Muir in the saddle and finished well behind Captain Fantastic on May 23, with his best option being a place on the board.
4 - THE SOUL WARRIOR is a roan colt (March 21) by Storm Craft out of Amanda Panda, trained by Phillip Lee with Tevin Foster holding the reins. Note that The Soul Warrior races with the blinkers on. Slowly finding his way, and is given a good chance in the exotics.
5 - OIL MACHINE is a chestnut colt (January 28) by Bern Identity out of Keep The Faith, trained by Phillip Elliott with Raddesh Roman listed as the designated jockey. Getting there albeit slowly. Can be backed in the exacta wager.
6 - DOVE is a chestnut filly (March 20) by Seeking My Dream out of Sea Of Galilee, trained by Ian Alexander with Oshane Nugent aboard. Note that Dove races with the visor and tongue tie on. Needs much more time coming off a long break.
7 - SOLO BLACK is a bay colt (March 14) by Northern Giant out of Late N Drafty, trained by Lawrence Freemantle with Kawise Gentle riding. Not ready.
