SPECIAL NOTES - None of the two top trainers, Jason DaCosta and Anthony Nunes had a winer on the day. None of the two top riders, Anthony Thomas and Dane Dawkins had a win on the day.
RACE ONE – It was an auspicious debut for the Ian Parsard-trained Bootylicious, a two-year-old bay filly by Key To Power out of Keep The Faith. With jockey Reyan Lewis in the seat, Bootylicious immediately gave a hint of her status by rushing to the lead, and thereafter was never challenged. Encouragingly for the connections of Bootylicious, the filly kept on moving away from rivals winning by 17 ½ lengths. Then came the time, a hot and spicy 1:06.2 seconds. One to watch. Win number one on the day for Lewis.
RACE TWO – It took Cotterwood Kathy all of 14 starts with only one placing effort to get rid of the maiden burden. That she did getting home by 5 lengths. This was the start of a rewarding weekend for trainer Ryan Darby and jockey Oneil Mullings.
RACE THREE - This was the event that Amad Ali used to get off the mark for his trainer Gary Subratie. While the connections of Amad Ali were celebrating the win, racegoers couldn’t help but notice the performance in the saddle of long-standing jockey Allen “Bongo John” Maragh. The ride by Maragh was an exhibition of quality riding without the excessive use of the whip.
RACE FOUR - Jockey Javaniel Patterson, while not listed among the top brass of reinsmen around, continues to find the winning post in front, this time on the Dennis Pryce trained Turnonthelight. It was win number 19 this season for Patterson.
RACE FIVE - Although not in any big camp anymore nor fighting for the championship, six-time champion Omar Walker is still around getting his regular winners. On the day, it was Zabratone for trainer Dennis Thwaites. Zabratone was Walker 26th win this year.
RACE SIX - The power of Robert ‘Hardball’ Halledeen was brought to bear aboard the Delroy Spencer-trained Diligent. Coming from well of the pace, Halledeen used his strength to provide Spencer with his first visit to the winners’ enclosure in 2022. Win number one on the day for Halledeen.
RACE SEVEN - A commanding win by the Gary Subratie conditioned D Head Cornerstone. D Head Cornerstone was winning for the third occasion, and interestingly all of his three wins have been achieved at a mile. This was probably the best career performance by this three-year-old bay colt. Win number two for jockey Reyan Lewis.
RACE EIGHT - As expected it was an easy sprint victory for the Fitzgerald Richards trained God of Love, again achieved at the Overnight Allowance level.
RACE NINE - The development of the Patrick Lynch-trained Freedom Street was clear to see, as the three-year-old bay gelding showed a clean pair of heels under the guidance of the ‘Canter Man’ himself, Shane Ellis. Win number two for Freedom Street from eight starts.
