KINGSTON, Jamaica - The third race on Saturday, February 1, 2025, features a maiden event for horses aged four and older, competing over a straight distance of five furlongs.
Five horses have entered the competition, with The Quick Galloper’s insights outlined below in draw order.
1 - MISS COUPERSLAND: Improved in her second outing on January 25, finishing third behind Aplomb and Lady Sarsutta over the straight course. With quick turnaround and added experience, Miss Coupersland warrants close attention, particularly with the in-form apprentice Richie Shakes reducing her weight by four kilogrammes.
2 - D BAY MACHINE: With 20 attempts to shed the maiden label, D Bay Machine has consistently struggled to meet this goal. Another opportunity arises, but expectations are low for a breakthrough this time.
3 - LORD ESPO: This chestnut colt has shown little in his four races to suggest he is a viable contender to win in this event.
4 - RUBY’S LIGHT: Aside from her latest performance, this filly has been inching closer to a victory. Ruby’s Light is familiar with the straight chute, having raced on this course numerous times in her 23 starts. The opportunity for her to claim her first win is now at hand.
5 - SECRET MISSION: This bay filly has not demonstrated any noteworthy potential in her 13 starts to indicate a future victory.
6 - GELROY: Coming back from a lengthy absence of 112 days since last competing on October 12, 2024, Gelroy left the racing scene in good form, demonstrating close finishes, particularly over the straight. If this chestnut colt has retained his fitness, he could prove challenging to beat.
