KINGSTON, Jamaica – The sixth race on Sunday, December 17, 2023, features 12 three-year-old maidens competing in a five-furlong straight course.
Below is The Quick Galloper analysis in post-position order:
- SHADOW OF A DOUBT is a grey colt (April 15) by Spieth out of Michela, trained by O’Neil Markland with Oshadane Robinson aboard. In his debut (Nov 19), this colt impressively finished second behind James and has improved since then. The only concern is the draw position.
- NOISY LADY is a bay filly (May 10) by Savoy Stomp out of Raise Your Voice, trained by Keffin Murray with Ramon Nepare in the saddle. The visor is off and blinkers on for this race. However, she hasn't developed as anticipated.
- SUGAR SUGAR is a chestnut filly (March 22) by Berlino Di Tiger out of Misty, trained by Michael Marlowe with Jerome Innis riding. Despite fading in the last part of her December 9 race, she may still be good for trifecta and superfecta wagers.
- ERTUGRUL is a bay colt (January 15) by Nasheet out of She’s A Gem, trained by Steven Todd with Phillip Parchment aboard. This contender lost by a length on December 2 but has a high probability of winning this race.
- STORM BOY is a dark bay colt (March 27) by Storm Craft out of Empire Strikes Back, trained by Courtney Williams with Roger Hewitt riding. Even wearing a visor for the race, his chances seem slim.
- ATOMIC ENERGY is a chestnut filly (February 5) by Patton Proud out of Nuclear Girl, trained by Adrian Prince with Tevin Foster aboard. Consistent in performance, she is likely to place in trifecta and superfecta wagers.
- SPARKLES is a bay filly (February 4) by Natural Selection out of Runaway Gal, trained by Jason DaCosta with Abigail Able riding. Debuting after thorough morning preparations, a commendable run is expected.
- HE STANDS ALONE is a bay gelding (April 24) by Successful Native out of Queen Adira, trained by Michael Cain Jnr with Trevor Simpson aboard. Racing without a tongue tie, his debut was unremarkable and this race may not be any different.
- XYLOPHONIC STEEL is a bay filly (March 24) by Bern Identity out of Kiri, trained by Khary Tucker with Shavon Townsend riding. With 13 previous races and no victories, her chances seem low.
- SIMPLY SENSATIONAL is a chestnut filly (April 19) by Sensational Slam out of Simply Outrageous, trained by Al Brown with Chris Mamdeen riding. Racing without a visor, her form has declined and improvement seems unlikely.
- YOU LOOK OK is a bay colt (June 27) by Strike While Its Hot out of Supreme Magic, trained by Everal Francis with Shane Richardson aboard. As a debutante, he stands an outsider's chance for success.
- MISS SUMFEST is a chestnut filly (March 28) by Berlino Di Tiger out of Outfither, trained by Gordon Lewis with Chalrick Budhai riding. Noted for progressing well in the mornings, she is expected to perform admirably.
