KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Sunday race day of March 27, 2022, got underway with heavy betting in the Reggae-8 exotic bet.

The five-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($180,000 - $150,000) contest at six furlongs started the Reggae 6 sequence of races and provided trainer David Powell with his first win in many moons after his charge Synchronize won at odds of 5-1.

Jockey Christopher Mamdeen kept Synchronize close to the leaders with Pure Heart (Reyan Lewis) carrying the field into the lane for the last two furlongs.

In the final furlong and a half, the grey horses Synchronize and Pure Heart were locked together with Hail Mary (Phillip Parchment) rallying on the outside.

Synchronize then gathered momentum to pull away from rivals, winning comfortably by 2 ½ lengths. Hail Mary ended in second place with Pure Heart third.

Synchronize was winning her fourth race from 71 career starts.
