KINGSTON, Jamaica – At nine years, Superluminal still has the fight, determination and pluck to put aside much younger competitors.
Racing with regular rider Omar Walker in the saddle for trainer Ian Parsard in a three-year-old and upwards Overnight offering at nine furlongs and 25 yards, Superluminal went to the lead, and was easily settled on the rails down the backstretch.
Despite being tested in the final furlong by the four-year-old foreigner Excessive Force (Linton Steadman), Superluminal fought his way through to win by 1 ½ lengths. Third was Uncle Frank (Anthony Thomas).
Excessive Force it has to be noted went miles wide at the first turn, raced wide down the backstretch and also went wide while taking the final turn for the last two furlongs.
