KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Shane Ellis and trainer Jason DaCosta enter the Easter Sunday (April 17) race meet on the cusp of significant milestone achievements.
Ellis needs one win on the day to reach the major landmark of 1,300 winners in his career. Ellis has five rides on Sunday in races one, five, six, eight, and nine.
In race one, Ellis rides Graydon; in race five – Smarty Tradition; in race six – XY Soul; in race eight – Minidewak, and in race nine – Stomp The Rhythm.
DaCosta needs one win to reach the mark of 100 winners. The young trainer started his local foray one year ago and ended the 2021 season with 76 wins to his credit. In 2022, DaCosta has saddled 23 winners for an overall total of 99 victories, to include his double today (Saturday, April 16).
DaCosta on the Sunday card has horses in two races – the eighth and ninth. In race eight, DaCosta saddles Pretty Girl, Sunset Silhoutte, and She’s My Friend; and in the ninth, Silent Mission, Lion of Ekati, and Giant Wheeler.
