KINGSTON, Jamaica – Suasion, a two-year-old chestnut filly by Soul Warrior – Honeymoon Bay, placed her credentials in view for next year’s top three-year-old races when in a strong come from behind effort, the filly got up in time to win the fourth race on today’s 11-race card at Caymanas Park.
The race was the two-year-old Sunnyside Trophy for fillies only run over five furlongs round.
At the off, it was the speedy Native Gold (Paul Francis – 5-1) who controlled proceedings followed by first timer Speechless (Robert Halledeen – 6-1) and Task Force (Aaron Chatrie – 35-1). At this stage in the race, jockey Anthony Thomas on Suasion was settled in fourth.
In the stretch, Native Gold continued to lead with Speechless mounting a challenge on the inside rails but Suasion under a well-timed ride by the champion jockey powered by the leaders with half-a-furlong left in the contest to win by a length in a good time of 1:00.1.
Second went to Speechless with Native Gold in the third slot.
This was win number 39 for the trainer of Suasion, Steven Todd.
