KINGSTON, Jamaica - Stranger Danger once again demonstrated his utter class and ability as a racing thoroughbred when he made it nine wins from nine starts thus far in his career with another facile victory, this time in the Invitational Mile which was the eight race on offer on the Super Day programme at Caymanas Park.
It was but an exercise romp for Stranger Danger despite carrying top weight of 126 lb and allowing 16 pounds to all of his six rivals.
Stranger Danger clocked a very fast time of 1:36.3 which broke the old mark of 1:37.1 set by Without Exception in this same race in 2018.
Honey Ryda (Christopher Mamdeen 60-1) set off in front and held the lead for about three furlongs before Stranger Danger with regular ride Omar Walker in the saddle made his move and simply went by all and sundry and then powered home is procession style to win by 7 lengths.
Second went to Stranger Danger’s stablemate Uncle Frank (Oneil Mullings 33-1) after a fierce battle with Fayrouz (Reyan Lewis 22-1).
The splits were 24.0 x 46.3 x 1:10.1.
“This horse is really special as nine wins from nine starts is nothing to scoff at. Now he is running at his very best as the time of 1:36.3 showed.
“The Diamond Mile is next about a month away and that is going to be an epic battle between Stranger Danger and, of course, the filly She’s A Maneater if they both stay healthy and strong,” trainer Wayne DaCosta said in his post-race interview with Quickgallop.com.
Stranger Danger was the second winner on the day for DaCosta.
